Forge Clay Studio 18th May – 31st May
The Forge Clay Studios invites you to celebrate with them the relaunch of their ceramic studios. Their first Galway based exhibition since 2013. The exhibition will be opening at 7pm Friday the 18th of May in the Galway City Gallery (15new Dock st). The exhibition will be running for 2weeks until the 31st May.
Emerging artists Aoife, Rosa, Emma and Joanna welcome you to join them on this exciting journey of reawakening the old spirit of The Forge and breathing life back into one of Galway’s oldest creative hubs.
Aoife Natsumi Frehan (26), graduated from LSAD in 2015. She was born in Japan and lived the latter half of her life in Ireland. Her love of detailed and repetitive work is often evident in her creations.
Rosa Roccaforte, b.1991, graduated in 2017 from CCAM. Rosa’s work explores and celebrates the abundance and exuberance of nature; likewise the diversity and texture of life. Incipience, the birthing of possibility inform the work.
Emma o’ Toole graduated in 2017 from CCAM with an honors degree ceramics. Her work explores the the diversity of clay as a medium pushing it to its limits and allowing it to express its self through movement and colour.
Joanna’s work is process and material driven. She focuses on the human body, investigating the relationship between why and how our body works. – “I am looking for metaphors revealing the strength and fragility of life and its universal truths.”
